FAQ #13

Can children practice hot yoga?

Yes, but it is best that hot yoga be practiced only after the child's sweat glands have developed - usually around a girl's first menstruation or a boy's growth spurt.

Additionally, some children have enough focus at an early age and others just don't - it is your job as a parent to decide whether your child is ready to stay in the hot room for 60-90 minutes and to set the right expectations. It is OK for your child to sit down or lie down whenever he or she needs to, but he/she must stay in the room the entire time and not fidget. Pre-teens must be accompanied by an adult. Teenagers can come in on their own. However, all students under 18 must have a waiver of liability signed by a parent prior to attending their first class. For kids who haven't developed their sweat glands yet, we offer more playful Family Yoga sessions which are held in a non-heated environment (room temperature).

You know your child better than anyone else so you should decide which option is more appropriate.
