After a diagnosis of osteoporosis, I decided to sidestep prescription drugs in favor of supplements, diet and exercise. My doctor was skeptical. I knew that after two years, I would have to take another bone density test in order to demonstrate progress. I chose yoga because I wanted an exercise program that would be structured, promote strength and would be something I would enjoy and look forward to. I recently took the bone density test, and was told by the doctor that my bone density has improved and I should keep doing what I am doing.
